We’ve reached another important topic: buying a bike.
Many of us have asked ourselves this question at some point: should I buy a new one with a warranty, or take a chance and buy a second-hand bike at half the price?
The most important factor is probably whether we know the world of bicycles or not. If you’ve been riding for years, the second-hand option can be a good solution. When you know what to look for, buying a used bike is feasible, but unexpected issues can still arise, adding extra costs.
However, if you don’t have experience with bicycles, or if you want a bike that will accompany you for many years, we recommend a new bike. Whether online or in physical stores, you have the comfort of a warranty if anything happens, a wide range of models and brands, and experienced staff who can help you choose the correct size and assist with bike fitting.
If you still want to buy a used bike for budget reasons, we recommend bringing a friend who knows bicycles to help you choose a second-hand bike.
With used bikes, there’s also an unpleasant aspect we won’t go into detail about: the origin of used bikes on the Romanian market. Classified sites are full of bikes in very good or even unused condition, but when asked about their origin, we sometimes get strange answers. Anyone who doesn’t want a bike that might be stolen from abroad should be very careful when buying a used bike.
